Sadie Robbins Branch

Each of us is a unique and beautiful expression of God’s love, care, and creativity. The life of Sadie Robbins Branch was certainly evidence of that. Sadie was born November 29, 1931 to Lonzo and Alpha (Kitt) Robbins in Forest City, NC. She grew up on the family farm with her sisters Ruby, Louise, Inez, and her brothers Jim and Jack. Thus, was born her deep love for home and family and living life fully. When she went off to college (Appalachian State) she met the love of her life, Morris Branch. They fell in love and were married on May 29, 1955. A little over a year later their first child, Morris Andrew (Andy) Branch was born. And a few years later their second child, James Lee (Jim) Branch came along. From Forest City, Morris and Sadie lived in several cities before landing in Knoxville, TN (in 1968), where they lived until she (at the age of 86) passed away on June 1, 2018. Sadie was a lover of life and laughter, family and friends. She loved people and never met a stranger. Even in her illness (acute leukemia) she was constantly befriending doctors and nurses, physical therapists and caregivers, as well as many others along the way. She was a loving wife (of 63 years) and a devoted mother. She was particularly proud of her of five grandchildren: Mandy, Jackson, Tim, Michelle, and Hunter, as well as her new granddaughter-in-law Katie (wife of Hunter). Sadie trusted in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a devoted member of West Hills Baptist Church. She was a long-time employee of J. P. Coffin’s, where she was well-loved by her co-workers and customers for over 30 years. Sadie was a strong, energetic, funny, generous, and sassy woman who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother and father (Lonzo and Alpha), her sisters (Ruby, Louise, and Inez) and brother (Jack), as well as her grandson (Jackson). She leaves behind her husband (Morris), her two sons and daughters-in-law (Andy and Sandy, Jim and Carol), her grandchildren (Mandy, Tim, Michelle, and Hunter), her granddaughter-in-law (Katie), and her brother (Jim Robbins). Though she will be greatly missed, we are all grateful that she is finally home, whole, and at peace. A celebration of her life will take place at Rose Mortuary (Mann Heritage Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike) on Monday, June 11 at 5:00 PM, with the receiving of friends to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to West Hills Baptist Church. Abraham Lincoln once said: “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” Luckily, for Sadie’s family and friends, we got both. She crammed a lot of life into her 86 years. Thanks be to God!
