Shirley Justice Parrott

SHIRLEY JUSTICE PARROTT – age 89, of Farragut, daughter of the late Hurstle and Maggie Ross Justice of Oliver Springs, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 1, 2023. Shirley was an active member of First Baptist Concord Church for 56 years and someone who truly lived out her faith in and love of the Lord. She was steadfast in her love of family and took a deep delight in her children and many grandchildren, as did her beloved late husband and best friend of 47 years, Clay Parrott. Shirley gave of herself gladly and was always engaged in community, from the many decades-long friendships she enjoyed to her loving network of extended family to the new friends she found at Autumn Care Assisted Living. Shirley won friends easily, thanks to a number of endearing qualities: she had a great wit and a sharp, inquisitive mind. She was a voracious reader, a lover of mysteries, a competitive (and often late-night) Rummikub player, and an unmatched finder of shark teeth at the beach. Ever the fiery redhead, she could be tough when needed, but her nature was fundamentally sweet and gracious. She was true, committed, and consistent, and she taught us so much about love. She will be dearly missed. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Clay; grandsons Gabriel and James (Jimmy) Mund; sisters Gloria Udall, Betty McCool, Joyce Winters, and Grace Norwood; sister-in-law Leiron McNabb; and brothers-in-law Harold Parrott and Gene Parrott. She is survived by her daughters, Carla Mund and husband Mike of Louisville, TN, and Lynda (Lyn) McConnell and husband Joe of Knoxville; son Jeffrey (Jeff) Parrott and wife Christy of Knoxville; grandchildren Morgan McConnell, Erin McConnell, Olivia Mund Massingill and husband Jake, Graham Parrott, Emeri Parrott, and Jedidiah (Jed) Parrott. She is also survived by sisters Rita Michel and Hope Layne, her sisters-in-law Ann Parrott Smith and Evelyn Parrott Reed, many much loved nieces and nephews, and a number of great friends. A celebration of life service will be at First Baptist Concord (11704 Kingston Pike) at noon on Saturday, March 11. Receiving of friends and family will begin at 11:00.
