Viola Proffitt Taylor Paluzelle

Viola Proffitt Taylor Paluzelle - age 90 of Knoxville, formerly of Kingston and Oak Ridge, left this earth Monday, April 29, 3013 at her home. Viola "Vi" was born August 24, 1922 in the Webbs Creek area of the "Great Smoky Mountains." The daughter of the late Glenn Proffitt and Beatrice Proffitt Cooper, and step-daughter of the late Walter C. Cooper. Viola was a member of Central Baptist Church- Bearden when she was a faithful and supportive member of the Encouragers Class and former member of First Baptist Church Kingston for 28 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest A. Taylor, Jr. of Roane County and her late husband Rudolph Paluzelle of Tellico Village. Three sisters also preceded her in death, Marie Cooper Hembree and husband Homer, Glendora Proffitt Hubbs and Dorothy Cooper Womac, and husband Jim, and son-in-law, Charles R. Haile. Viola is survived by her son, Jack Winston Taylor and wife Sue Huddleston Taylor of Knoxville; daughter, Rebecca Taylor Haile of Tellico Village; granddaughters, Emily Taylor Boulton (Bill), of Huntsville, AL.; Jacquelyn Taylor Goforth (Scott) of Heiskell, TN; Destiny Hope Kelly (Jonathan), Norcross, GA. ; great grandson, Benjamin Scott Goforth, Heiskell, TN; sisters, Carolyne Cooper Callahan (Don), Powell, TN and Donna Cooper Henry (Jim) of Oak Ridge, TN; brothers, Ralph F. Cooper (Margie) and Frank B. Cooper, both from Powell, TN; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was also survived by three bonus grandchildren: Richard and Debbie Hail, of Ft. Collins, CO, Lucy and Richard Griffey of Kingston, TN, Jeannie and Doug Ramey of Newnan, GA; six bonus great grandchildren; and special caregiver, Connie Lewis. Viola attended the University of Georgia. She served as Executive Director of the Roane County Chamber of Commerce and was the first woman to be elected and serve as President of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce. Viola was a charter member of the Kingston Business and the Professional Women's Club. Viola and Mr. Taylor owned and operated the Harriman Upholstery and Drapery Shop for ten years. A celebration of Viola's life will be held at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel Thursday at 2:30 pm with Dr. Larry Fields officiating. Friends and family will gather at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, TN on Friday for an 11 am graveside service. Memorials in Viola's name may be made to the Salvation Army.
