Wilber W Wilson

Wilson, Wilber W., of Knoxville passed away on October 13, 2013. He will be missed by all who knew him. Wilber was born on 2/19/20 in Morgan County, Ohio. He was an active member of Neal Avenue Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Newark and most recently, Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Knoxville. He graduated from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio and in 1954 started his own CPA firm - now Wilson, Shannon and Snow in Newark, Ohio. He was a past president of the Newark Chamber of Commerce and an active participant in Toastmasters and Lions Club, as well as numerous other civic groups. Wilber will be remembered as a soft spoken man, but very committed to whatever project he became involved with. Wilber was a veteran of World War II on the Pacific front. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers and staff at Atria Weston Place who have meant so much to all of us over the past three years, as well as Caris Hospice Care and Always Best Care who have become part of our family in the most recent weeks. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Wilson, his four brothers - Fred, Elbert, Howard and Orville, his wife of 54 Years - Ruth P. (Baughman) Wilson and his second wife of nine years, Betty (Hankison) Wilson. He leaves his three daughters: Melodie (Michael) Knight, Joy Paynter, and Glee Wilson all of Knoxville. In addition, he leaves three grandchildren, Amy (Russ Bell) Paynter of Louisville, Tennessee, Doug (Tammy) Paynter of Newark, Ohio, and Tracey (Ric) Johann of Toledo, Ohio, and four great grandsons - Ryan and Zachary Paynter of Newark, Ohio and Sebastian and Keaton Johann of Toledo, Ohio. There will be visitation on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. A funeral service will be held at a later date in Newark, Ohio.
