Wilson B. Reynolds

REYNOLDS, WILSON BEACHAM - age 90, born February 25, 1922, in Farnhamville, Iowa, residing in Knoxville, passed away at 5:00 PM, on Monday, October 1, 2012, surrounded in love with his family by his side. Wilson received his undergraduate degree at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, and his Master's Degree from the University of Iowa, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was a retired department store executive, working at Dayton's in Minneapolis and at Miller's in Knoxville for many years. He was also a lifelong farmer, working on the family farm as a boy, and running that farm in Iowa from afar, in conjunction with his cousin and later with a young farmer he helped to get started. Wilson was a U.S. Army veteran, proudly serving his country in WWII, 75th Infantry Division, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge, and serving as a German translator after the war. Upon his return to the U.S., he married the sweet woman he met at a USO dance, Juanita Krause, and was together with her for over 66 years. Wilson loved life! He was always such a positive influence in people's lives-his insights, his advice, his laughter, his calm demeanor filled the lives of all he came into contact with. He was so easy to talk to and mentored many young people throughout his life. After his retailing career, he and his wife had a good time traveling for many years with his daughter, Candy, as she played on the professional tennis tour. He loved the tennis and he loved to travel. He was an outdoorsman, and in the last few years would enjoy many hours sitting in the fresh air, reading or napping. He was a lifelong supporter of the Methodist Church, and member of Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville. He attended Sunday School and enjoyed his Murphy Builders friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Fern and Charles Reynolds, of Farnhamville, Iowa. He dearly loved his family and is survived by his loving wife, Juanita, who already misses him more than he can imagine; his daughter, Debbie, of Minneapolis, MN, his son, Charles, a urologist in Knoxville, his daughter Candy, of Atlanta, GA; his sisters, Mary Woodcock of Iowa and Laura Ann Collins of California; his daughter-in-law, Trudy Reynolds, his brothers-in-law, John Krause and Jerry Krause, and his sisters-in-law, Carole Krause and Beverly Sunderman; his many loving nieces and nephews; and a host of many relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 5, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike. Funeral services will be held at Church St. United Methodist Church at 12:00 pm on Saturday, Oct. 6, with Rev. Darryll Rasnake officiating. Military honors will be provided at the private graveside by Volunteer State Veteran's Honor Guard.
