Allie Lloyd Harmon, Jr., age 89, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022, surround by his loving family. Allie was born January 31, 1933 in Norfolk, VA. He graduated from Norview Highschool, Norfolk, VA, 1949, and graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) with a B.S. in Business Administration with honors in 1957. Allie served our country honorably and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict from 1951-1955 and with the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1957-1964. He retired from a 43-year career in the banking industry in 1998, having worked as a Branch Manager at Wachovia Bank in Winston Salem, NC, and as a Sr. Vice President at Valley Fidelity and as a Vice President at First Tennessee Bank in Knoxville, TN. The proudest accomplishment of his banking career was his involvement in community redevelopment and in assisting low-income families and underserved neighborhoods in Knoxville. Allie was a long-time member and former Deacon at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church. He always had a thirst for knowledge and after retirement particularly enjoyed participating in his Sunday School classes and taking courses at Johnson Bible College. He was member of the Cherokee Masonic Lodge, #728, and the Knoxville Downtown Sertoma Club. Allie was a strong supporter of the Knoxville Symphony and Knoxville Opera Guild. Allie was predeceased by his wife, Irma Reiland Harmon, whom he married on April 3, 1960, until her death December 3, 2005; long-time companion, Nancy Peebles Biddle, until her death November 21, 2016; parents, Allie L. Harmon, Sr., and Sallie Burkett Harmon; brother, George “Butch” Harmon, and niece, Ruth R. Clark. Allie is survived by daughters, Lorraine Harmon Burns and husband Mark, Louisa Harmon Renn and husband Steven; five grandchildren, Scott Burns (Chelsey Skipworth), Allie Burns Bradshaw (Kenneth), G. Alexander Renn (Caitlin), Stephanie Renn (J. Elliot Dancey), Erin Burns Waugh (Simon); two great-grandchildren, William “Liam” Bradshaw, and Harmon Marie Renn; brothers, Dean Harmon (Barbara), Bill Harmon, James Harmon (Pat), Larry Harmon (Tamara), Ben Harmon (Bonnie), Byron Harmon; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service is being held at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church on Thursday, May 26th at 3:00pm, with Dr. Jay Howell officiating. Interment will be private.
