B. Allan Bartlett, age 92, died peacefully on August 6, 2021. A native of Knoxville, Allan graduated from Knoxville High School and received his Bachelor of Science and Business Administration degree from the University of Tennessee in 1953. He was Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and served two years on active duty, receiving an honorable discharge after 13 years of service in the Air Force Reserve, receiving the rank of Captain. He graduated from The School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University in 1965 and graduated from the Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma in 1983. Allan began his banking career with Park National Bank on March 5, 1956 and retired from First American Bank on January 7, 1994. Throughout his career and into retirement, Allan served as a Board Member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, Better Business Bureau of Greater East Tennessee, Consumer Credit Counseling Service, Child and Family Services of Tennessee, Interfaith Health Clinic, Neighborhood Housing Service, Serene Manor and Fairview and Technology Center of Knox County. He was also a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Fountain City Toast Master Club, Chamber of Commerce of Knoxville, St. Mary’s Health System Senior Advisory Counsel, Knoxville Executives Club and Kiwanis Club of Northside Knoxville. Allan is survived by sons Beecher Allan Bartlett, Jr., (Kim), Mike Bartlett (Colleen) of Knoxville, and Bill Bartlett (Linda), of Greenville SC; six grandchildren, Taylor Bartlett (Ellie), Matt Bartlett, Michael Bartlett, Jr. (Angela), Morgan Bartlett, Maria Bartlett, and Jae Bartlett. Also surviving are his brother-in-law Ray Williams, Jr. (Katherine) of Greenville, SC; nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by parents Beecher Taylor Bartlett and Lillian E. Bartlett, wife Genevieve Williams Bartlett and sister Eleanor Bartlett Deal Smith. Allan was married to Genevieve Williams Bartlett on February 18, 1956 until her death on November 22, 2020 from COVID Pneumonia. Due to the pandemic, Genevieve Bartlett’s memorial service was delayed. A memorial service for Genevieve and Allan will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Second Presbyterian Church, Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919 with a receiving of friends by the family immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to Second Presbyterian Church, The Boys & Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley or the organization of your choice. The family expresses their gratitude to Mary Carr who allowed the Bartletts to remain in their home with assistance for a number of years and the personnel at NHC-Farragut, Cavette Hill Memory Center and Caris Healthcare for their loving care in recent years.
