    Derryl Jane Grace Dockter Kasler

    March 29, 2021

    Derryl Kasler, 87, of Knoxville, passed away on March 29, 2021. She was of the Presbyterian faith. Born in Roslyn, L.I., New York, she moved with her family to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and later graduated from Florida State University in Art Education. She married William Dockter and taught middle school art in St. Petersburg, then in Ft. Lauderdale. In 1990, Derryl married Ted Kasler who passed away suddenly in 1994. Having become an interior designer, she moved to Delray Beach. A creator, vocalist, and artist at every stage of her life, she was an avid oil painter (a member of Women In The Visual Arts) and a church choir and regional chorale singer. She was also fortunate to travel with her British companion, Bernard Lloyd, in Europe. In her later years, Derryl lived in Weeki Wachee as companion and caregiver to her special friend, Tom Robinson. In 2019, she moved to Knoxville to be closer to her daughter’s family. She joined them in becoming active at Second Presbyterian Church, particularly with the Presbyterian Women knitting mission. Preceded in death by parents, James and Eleanor Grace and sister, Michele Grace. Survivors: sister, Eleanor Brahe; daughter, Lauren Dodson (Richard); grandsons, Taylor and Parker Dodson. Her family is grateful to the compassionate staff at Parkwest Hospital, Knoxville. Memorial service Tuesday, April 20th, 2:00pm, in the Chapel at Second Presbyterian Church, Knoxville, Pastor Tim Reynolds officiating, reception following. Interment of ashes will be at her father’s gravesite in Ft. Lauderdale. Memorials may be made to American Humane and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
