Dorothy Cain “Aunt Dot” Hunter, age 97, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 12, 2021. Dot was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville, a graduate of the 1941 class of Knoxville High School, and an alumnus of the University of Tennessee where she earned both a Bachelors and Masters Degree. She was a retired Psychiatric Social worker, having had a successful career with the Helen Ross McNabb Center. Dot is preceded in death by her husband Major Henry Hunter, Jr., USAF; her parents James L. and Daisy P. Cain, and her brother James L. Cain, Jr. She is survived by her brother Francis A. Cain and wife Pattie; nieces and nephews: Jeff R. Cain and wife Laura, Ashley E. Walton and husband Stuart of Atlanta, GA; Whitney Cain Leonard and husband Rich of Raleigh NC; Cathy L. Breen and husband John of Pensacola FL, several great-nieces and nephews, and special friends Barbara Wayland and Martha Stephens. Graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021, Highland Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Brent McDougle officiating.
