Edwina was born June 21, 1935 in Girardville, Pennsylvania as the daughter of Margaret Priscilla Sedar and Joseph William (Yudinsky) Young. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place July 29, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at The Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, 711 S. Northshore Drive, Knoxville, TN, with Father David Boettner celebrating. The Mass will be livestreamed on the church’s YouTube channel available through the website shcathedral.org. Rose Mann Mortuary, will assist at the funeral but there will be no visitation in Tennessee. Interment will occur in Holmdel Cemetery, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ on the morning of August 11, 2021. The family will receive friends and family at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Reb Bank, NJ on the evening of August 10th. Edwina graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1955, received her CPA license in 1956. She married Joseph C. Daley (1934-1997) in 1959. She also earned an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and worked for a longtime as a managerial international tax for Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She lived in Aberdeen (formerly Matawan) and Rumson, New Jersey. After the death of her husband in 1997, she moved back to NYC and enjoyed life in Manhattan for more than 10 years. Later, she retired to Knoxville, Tennessee to be near her oldest son, where she passed away suddenly on July 20, 2021. She was an avid Penn State football fan as well as a staunch supporter of the New York Yankees. She travelled frequently to see the Nittany Lions play and was often at Beaver Stadium. She travelled internationally frequently, being among some of the first Americans to visit China. A highlight of her broad social events was her 25th Wedding Anniversary celebrated at Windows on the World on the 101st floor of the World Trade Center in NYC. While living in the “City”, she often attended Broadway plays and even had financial interest in a few. She enjoyed her friends and care team at NHC Farragut. She is survived by her sister, Josette Machese (Albert) of Ashland, Pa, and her children, Brian (and Lisa) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Margaretmary (and Stanislaw) of Cleveland, OH and Paris, France, and Bernard C. of New York, New York. Her son, Joseph C. Daley, Jr predeceased her in 2005. She is further survived by 7 grandchildren: Blake, Andrew, Devin, Sara, Patrick, Bernard Jr (Charlie), and Emily, three great grandchildren: Carter, Joseph, and Isabella as well as 3 step-grandchildren. Edwina began a scholarship fund for non-traditional undergraduate students at Penn State in honor of her son, the Joseph C. Daley, Jr. Trustee Scholarship.
