    Imogene "Jean" Cantwell Dacus

    September 14, 1927 - May 9, 2022

    Imogene "Jean" Cantwell Dacus, 94 years young passed from this life on May 9, 2022 to her heavenly eternity. After living a long life of giving, she peacefully and quickly went in her sleep. She was able to stay in her home until the last few hours. The Lord granted her prayers. Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 55 yrs Aubrey, grandson Shawn Mauk. She is survived by son A.D. Dacus ( Brenda), daughter Donna Mille Mauk, grandchildren Doug and Richard Dacus, Rachel Hughes, many Great grandchildren and Great-great grandchildren. Jean was one of 13 children and is survived by sisters Ruth Byrd, Faye Rankin and Fern Kiser as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Of her siblings she is preceded by brothers: Donald, Grant, J.L. (Doc), Dallas, Dale & Dean Cantwell and sisters: Johnne Dugger, Adele Haun, Cecile Ward. Retired for Sears after 31 years, Jean was an avid Big Orange fan. She could be found at many football games with her brother Grant and at every football game her grandsons played. She was a collector of many things such as teapots and well..people! She loved people of all walks of life and ages. She took care of her "little Ladies" (older friends) up to her 90 's. Jean loved her family most of all. Known as the Matriarch of the Cantwell clan, she hosted more than 65 years of Christmas gatherings at her home in Knoxville. A long (75 year) member of Broadway Baptist Church in Knoxville, she served her church faithfully, even helping cook and serve Wednesday dinners for over 20 years. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm Sunday, May 15, 2022, at ROSE FUNERAL & CREMATION BROADWAY. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm. Mom requested no flowers but memorials to help the living of your own choice. Online obituary may be viewed and condolences extended at www.rosefuneraltn.com
