James Theodore "Ted" Robinson

James Theodore “Ted” Robinson, Jr., passed away of natural causes on Friday, June 3, at age 87. Robinson, of Knoxville, Tenn., was born in Miami, Fla. He was the founder and owner of R&T Supply and Tennessee Pang for more than 30 years. A Deacon at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, Robinson was active in the Emmaus Sunday School Class and the men’s Bible Fellowship Study. He was a board member for the Knoxville Area Rescue Mission for several decades. He led counselling efforts for Alcoholics Anonymous and conducted prison ministry work for Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. He helped establish Park West Forty, the first AA club branch in West Knoxville. An avid golfer, he was a member at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville and Monterrey Yacht and Country Club in Stuart, Fla. He was the Sertoma Man of the Year and the president of the Lenox Court Home Owners Association. He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Robinson, and his mother Evelyn Reynolds Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Sandberg Robinson, to whom he was married for 42 years. He is also survived by his children, Teddie Robinson McMahon and husband Charles McMahon, Steven Robinson, Karen Robinson Mann, Sharon Robinson Woody and Deborah Lynne Robinson and husband J David Hunter Newton, David Henley Tate Jr. and his wife Pamela Tate. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Carol McMahon Hill and her husband David Hill, Christy McMahon Smith and her husband Gregory Smith, Caryn McMahon Hammond and her husband Christopher Hammond, Curt Tate, Robin Hunter Newton and Bradley Carter Newton. He also is survived by his great grandchildren, Meagan and Zachary Hammond, Cullen and Devon Hill, Marin, Graham and Lauren Smith, and Kaleigh Newton. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Robinson Adams. The Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 7 at 2 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Garden of Everlasting Life. Officiating will be Rev. Clay Harrington, Pastor for Senior Adults, Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. Receiving friends will be Monday, June 6, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, Old Chapel.
