Mrs. Kathern Burgin

Kathern Burgin, age 87, of Knoxville, formerly of Blaine, Tennessee, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Parkwest Medical Center. Kathern was a member of Central Baptist, Bearden for sixty-nine years and a member of the Adult A (The Royer Class). She was a longtime member of the WMU, a room mother with all four of her children and loved to volunteer with the local food pantry. Kathern was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Hattie Evans; brothers, Jack Evans, Kenneth Evans and James Evans who also passed away on September 7, 2016 and son-in- law, Doug Ball. Kathern is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-nine years, Bruce H. Burgin; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Kay Burgin of Landenburg, PA, Jerry and Shannon Burgin of Mount Juliet, TN and Jim and Ann Burgin of Angier, NC.; daughter, Mary Ball of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Deborah and Amanda Burgin, Jennifer (Brian) Withrow, Chris (Natalie) Burgin, Stephen (Jennifer) Burgin, Tim (Courtney) Burgin, Meredith (Brandon) Gregory, Rebekah and Aaron Burgin.; great-grandchildren, Davis and Grant Withrow, Madison, Lynlee and Ella Burgin, Aleda and Natalie Gregory; brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Myrtle Evans; sisters, Bobbie Lois Copeland and Mary Ruth Mayes; brother-in-law, Jess Mayes and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a very special thank you to the staff of Shannondale Health and Rehab for their kind, loving and professional care; Gloria Johnson for the wonderful care she provided for three years and Becky Haun and Tonya Hill for their wonderful care as well. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday with a funeral service to follow at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, Dr. Wade Bibb and Reverend Mark Moreland officiating. The family and friends will meet 1:30 PM, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the East Tennessee State Veterans’Cemetery, (Gov. John Sevier Highway) for a graveside and interment service.
