Lisa Ann Hurtt

Lisa Ann Hurtt of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on December 24, 2021, at the age of 65. She was predeceased by her parents Dot (Al) Kershaw of Chattanooga, Tennessee and John (Nancy) Hurts of Powell, Alabama, along with her brother and sister-in-law, Joe Kershaw and Julie Kershaw Dollar, and her brother-in-law JC Shumaker of Chattanooga. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Morgan Jacob and Serra Kerley Stiles of Knoxville, Tennessee, sisters Cyndi Hurtt and April (Robert) Frye, brothers Dan (Marisa McDonough) Kershaw of Chattanooga and Johnny Hurtt of Fort Payne, Alabama, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lisa was born in Fort Payne, Alabama and moved to Chattanooga in 1969 with her family. There, she graduated Hixson High School in 1974 and was recognized as one of the wittiest students in her class. She then attended UTK, majoring in Education and Spanish. Lisa was no stranger to challenges and battles. Early in her life, she contracted polio and was admitted to the Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center, in Warm Springs, GA. There, she received treatment which allowed her to return home and thrive. In 2011, she was diagnosed and beat stage 4 leukemia. Having worked since junior high, Lisa spent her career of 48 years in retail. Her career ranged from store clerk at her step father’s drug store, to buyer, store manager, and district manager for companies such as Sears, Miller’s, One Price, Paul Harris, J. Peterman, and Lane Bryant. She retired after 19 years as the National Boy Scout Shop Manager of the Great Smoky Mountain Council in Knoxville. For her years or support and volunteerism with the Boy Scouts, she received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award that can be given to a non-scout. Lisa was an avid reader of mystery and true crime. She was known for her wit, sharp mind, and sharper tongue. She was fond of telling and keeping of the stories of her and others lives. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 8th, 2022 from 1pm-4pm at Rose Funeral & Cremation-Broadway, at 1421 North Broadway, Knoxville TN 37917.
