Michael R. Bachman, USAF Lt. Col. (Ret.) CPA (Ret.) slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of God on January 22, 2021. Serving as ground crew for his final flight and awaiting their own flights are his wife of 48 years, Madonna Ann Black Bachman of Knoxville; daughter Amy Bachman Cliett; son Eric Bachman; grandson Dylan Cliett, and daughter-in-law Jamie Bachman, all of Orange Park, FL. His niece Sherri Price, RN, served as navigator providing the flight plan for the family. Those fortunate enough to have caught earlier flights include his parents, Art and Barbara Bachman of Kingston, grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Awaiting later flights, brother Art Bachman, nieces Sherri Price and Wendi Overton (Tim), and great nieces and nephews of Richmond, VA. Mike retired as a pilot with the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard after a combined 20 years service. He retired in 2018 as the Vice President of Business and Finance for McGhee Tyson Airport. Mike was passionate about golf, fishing, hunting, and Scouts. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Knoxville, Boy Scouts of America, Trout Unlimited, Military Order of the World Wars, and Oak Ridge Country Club. Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2021 at the East Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery, Gov. John Sevier Highway with the Rev. Mike Wilkinson officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided. Masks and social distancing will be observed in accordance with Covid-19 recommendations.
