    Mildred Bayne Lance

    September 18, 1929 - December 6, 2020

Mildred Bayne Lance passed away on December 6, 2020 having been a blessing to so many lives during her 91 years. We celebrate her life knowing she is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior and many loved ones! She was a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. Mildred was born September 18, 1929 to William and Carrie Bayne in Newport, Kentucky. She spent most of her childhood on a farm in Hendersonville, NC, frequently sharing with family her wonderful memories of farm life with her brothers and sisters. During the early 1940’s her family moved to Kingsport, TN, again moving her junior year of high school to Knoxville, TN. Mildred was a graduate of Karns High School. She met the love of her life, Ernest Lance, in early 1948 and they married on November 18, 1948. They relocated to Oak Ridge, TN, where they lived until 1978 when they moved to their retirement paradise, a small farm in Knox County. An avid seamstress, Mildred was active in the Oak Ridge Women’s Club, making countless clothing outfits and frequently modeling them in shows. She was known for her wonderful cooking, especially desserts. Mildred worked at ORTEC in Oak Ridge and later at Asset Planning in Knoxville, TN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; 3 sisters- Evelyn Bayne, Sybil Harbin, and Shirley Bowles and 5 brothers- Austin Bayne, K.P. Bayne, Bill Bayne, Bob Bayne, and Jerry Bayne; and 2 sisters-in-law, Hazel Rollins and Lois Seinfeld. She is survived by her son Austin (Suzanne) Lance of Farragut, TN.; grandchildren Sheryl (Chas) Edwards of Suwanee, GA, Kimberly (Shannon) McCullock of Fountain City, TN, and Scott (Brooke) Lance of Georgetown, KY. She cherished her great grandchildren- Greyson, Parker, Ryker, Porter, Vera Beth, and Hattie and great-great grandson Truett. The family is grateful to the staff of Arbor Terrace Assisted Living and The Nursing Center at Little Creek for the wonderful love and care they provided over the past several years. Friends may pay condolences at www.rose-mortuary.com or visitation at Rose Mortuary Wednesday anytime. Due to COVID-19, a private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to one of these three 501(c)(3) organizations: Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church Missions, Little Creek Nursing Center, or Children’s Hospital of Knoxville, TN.
