Nannette "Babs" Quintans O'Connor (1948-2024) Nannette Quintans O'Connor, affectionately known as "Babs," passed away on September 17, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on February 3, 1948, she touched the lives of many through her remarkable journey. Nannette was adopted by her devoted parents, Earnest and Pauline Quintans, who instilled in her a strong work ethic and a love for life. She found her soulmate in William "Billy" Ross O'Connor, and together they shared a lifetime of love and adventure. Her career with Delta Airlines allowed her to explore the world, from the turquoise waters of Tahiti to the ancient ruins of Greece. But Babs was equally at home on American soil. She crisscrossed the country alongside her husband, working tirelessly operating and managing their shared business on the carnival, Irish Concessions, week after week. Nannette had a heart for nurturing, and she spent time caring for dozens of babies at Sacred Heart Preschool. Later, she became a switchboard operator at Beaty Chevrolet, where her warm voice greeted callers. Even in retirement, she continued to connect with people as an Uber driver, sharing stories and laughter along the way. As a mother, Babs was unwavering in her support. She cheered on her children-Tessie (Andrew) O'Connor Luxemburger, Darby (Jake) O'Connor-Lanigan, and Thomas Anthony O'Connor II-in every endeavor. Her love extended to her grandchildren-Parker, Brody, Logan Luxemburger, and Kaiden Wilson-along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. She was simply "Mama Babs" to all. Beyond her nurturing spirit, Nannette was a creative force. She crafted exquisite headpieces and costumes for Studio Arts for Dancers and GO! Contemporary Dance Works performances, leaving a lasting legacy in the dance studio. Her dedication and fearlessness in work inspired those around her. In celebrating Babs' life, we remember her infectious laughter, her kindness, and her ability to make everyone feel seen. She leaves behind a family who carries her work ethic and love forward, grateful for the time they had with her. Rest in peace, dear Babs. Your spirit dances on in our hearts.
