    Ray Wellman Creekmore

    March 12, 1936 - February 7, 2021

    Ray Wellman Creekmore, age 84, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Sunday morning, February 7, 2021, at Shannondale Health Care Center, Knoxville. He was born on March 12, 1936, at the home of his paternal grandmother in Jellico, Tennessee, to the late Raymond Earl, and Athalee Brooks Creekmore. Ray grew up in Maryville, Tennessee, and graduated from Everett High School in 1954. He attended classes at Emory University, University of Tennessee Knoxville, and graduated first in his class at Draughans Business College. Ray was a veteran of the United States Army; worked for State Senator Estes Kefauver in Washington, D.C.; Southern Railway; and Osborne Equipment Company as Vice President of Finance. Ray’s childhood love of cars and trucks culminated in many years of service at Ted Russell Ford in Knoxville. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded un death by Paternal Grandparents Sherman and Nola Withers Creekmore; Maternal Grandparents Charles Brooks and Willie Brooks Williams; brother Robert Reed Baker of Pine Mountain, GA; and aunt and uncle A.C. (Herb) and Billee Brooks Lunsford. Ray is survived by his wife Rose Anne Weaver Creekmore, step daughter Angela Patrick, step granddaughters Zoey Patrick and Adrienne Pangara, and two step great grandchildren. Other survivors are: son Rick and his wife Kristina Creekmore and grandsons Ryan and Riley Creekmore. Also, Ray’s sister Doris Creekmore Solomon, Half sister-in-law Barbara Aven Baker of Pine Mountain, GA, niece Valerie Baker Jones and husband Bruce, two great nephews and six, great, great nieces and nephews, as well as cousin Dr. Sherman and Cathy Creekmore of Roanoke, VA. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Shannondale Health Care Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, for Ray’s care the many years he was their patient, especially during the last few months of Ray’s life. A service of burial will be held at a later date attended by the family. If a memorial remembrance is desired, please consider Young-Williams Animal Center, 3201 Division St, Knoxville, TN 37919.
