Ruth Sharp Colson, (1924-2022) a longtime resident of Fountain City and Halls, Tennessee died at the age of 97, Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Westmoreland Health and Rehabilitation and Nursing Home under hospice care following an extended illness. She was born in Clinton, Tennessee to Nannie Mae Yount Sharp and Aaron Sharp on May 8, 1924. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Grady Dalton Colson in 2006. Also her grandson, Ben Nelson preceded her in 2003 as well as three brothers, Clarence, Ellison and Glenmore Sharp and sister, Evelyn Turner Rhyne. She was a loving wife and awesome Mom to four children. She was an employee for 28 years for Watsons on the Mall. A longtime member of Fountain City Baptist Church and in later years attended Heiskell United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed the ministry and friends at Morning Pointe Assisted Living for five years. Survivors are four children, Frank Colson and wife Sharon of Halls, Linda Paschal and husband Tom of Brush Creek, TN, Cordell Colson and wife Jenny of Heiskell, TN and Carol Nelson and husband Doug of Athens, TN. Grandchildren Scott Paschal (Rebecca) of Brush Creek, TN, Frank Colson, Jr and Misty Baker, of Dickson, TN, Krista Odbert (Josh) Bennett, of Nebraska, Angie Nelson (Donny) of Athens, TN. Emily Gardner (Randy) of Powell, TN, Kate Wallen of Powell, TN, and Jeff Colson (Michelle) of Powell, TN. Great Grandchildren, Dalton Paschal, of Norfolk, VA, Cameron Paschal, of Brush Creek, TN, Boone Paschal of Brush Creek, TN, Coty Baker of Dickson, TN, Riley Gibbs of Powell, TN, Shelby Ruth Wallen, of Powell, TN, Andrew Wallen of Powell, TN, Kinsley Hanranch, of Bennett, Nebraska, and Caleb Odbert of Bennett Nebraska, Braden and Allison Mayfield of Athens, TN, Kaylee Colson, of Dickson, TN. Nieces Cookie Oakley of Knoxville, TN, Brenda (Jack) Cooper of Clinton, TN, Lana Warmsley (Johnny) of Indiana; nephews Brent Turner of Knoxville, and Kent Turner of Medford, TN. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, February, 12, 2022 at Rose Funeral & Cremation-Broadway. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Don Thomas of Heiskell United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends will gather at 3:15 pm Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for 3:30 pm graveside service.
