    Sandra Lee Wilson

    May 1, 2022

Sandra Lee Wilson was called home to be with the Lord on May 1st, 2022, at the young age of 71. A lifelong Knoxville native and graduate of Bearden High School, Sandy was well-loved and well-known in her community for being one of the sweetest, kindest, and most giving people. Most important to Sandy was her family. She was married to the love of her life for 30 years, David "Dave" Wilson, until he passed away in 2004. She loved giving her time and love to her two sons and their wives, Jeremy and Stephanie of Charlotte, NC, and Jacob and Haylie of Knoxville. She especially loved being "Gandy" to her two "Grands," Kaylee and Gabby. Sandy cherished spending time with her big brother, Larry, and his wife, the Thelma-to-her-Louise, Jeanne Lee. She loved being "Aunt Joe" to her niece Jacquelyn Lee, nephew Luke Lee, his wife Lee Ann, and their three children. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Sandy carried her love of giving throughout her entire career. As a speech and language specialist for both Knox City and Knox County Schools for 39 years, she helped hundreds of children develop confidence in their communication skills. In her retirement, Sandy continued to give back to her community. She volunteered in surgery waiting at Parkwest Hospital as well as provided meals for Lost Sheep Ministries and Powell UMC’s Recovery Ministry. Sandy loved staying busy and spent her "free" time ballroom dancing (the rhythm dances were her favorite), gardening, reading, walking, traveling, being part of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and spending time with her grandchildren. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5th at Rose Funeral and Cremation – Mann, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, at 7:00 pm, with Pastor Perry Garrett officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm. The Graveside Service will be held Friday, May 6th at 1:00 pm at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyon's View Pike. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Special Olympics Tennessee. Online condolences and memories may be shared at rosefuneraltn.com.
