Virginia Jo Carmin Riggsby passed away peacefully on February 5, 2021. “Muz” was a devoted and loving wife of 72 years. She was a loved as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will always be remembered for her expanzive capacity for love and for her strong and spunky spirit which touched the lives of many. Jo was born on June 27th, 1927. She attended Central High School and University of Chattanooga. She and her husband, Robert Riggsby, resided and raised their family on Signal Mountain, Tennessee and were lifelong members of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. Jo was a talented realtor in Chattanooga for over 25 year. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling to Florida with her loving husband, Bob. Together they enjoyed boating, golfing, and antiquing. She also loved spending endless hours spoiling her grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren as only a loving grandmother can. Moving to Knoxville in 2012 to be closer to family was the beginning of a new chapter and one they both enjoyed. “Muz” had such a sweet and caring spirit. She shared her talents by volunteering with Mission of Hope. She was loved by many and left an abundance of joy as well as cherished memories for her family and friends. Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert F. Riggsby Jr.; son, Thad Steven Riggsby; parents, Kathleen and Karl F. Carmin; and parents-in-law, Mattie Lou and Robert F. Riggsby Sr. Jo is survived by her loving daughter, Karlyn Riggsby Reedy and husband Michael, of Knoxville, TN; daughter-in-law, Marcia Riggsby of Sturbridge, Mass; grandchildren, Fulton Josef Wold of Nashville TN, Robert Ryan Riggsby and wife Sara of Charlotte, NC, Kathleen (Happy) Wold Fulk and husband Bo of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Laiton Wold, Emmeline Wold, Charlotte Riggsby, Karlyn Fulk, Jocelyn Riggsby, Fulton Wold, Sam Fulk, and loved by all our family, Joan Adkins. The family would like to thank the ENTIRE staff of NHC Assisted Living for their kindness, compassion and loving care for “Muz” at the end of her life. A family memorial service will be held at the Chattanooga Memorial Cemetery and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mission of Hope, 6030 Industrial Heights Dr. NW, Knoxville, TN 37909. Online condolences may be extended at www.rosemortuary.com.
