Dr. Jon Ruric Simons

Dr. Jon Ruric Simons, age 86 of Knoxville, TN, passed away on November 26, 2025. Jon was born in Princeton, Kentucky to Walter and Aylene Simons. He grew up in Oak Ridge, TN. After graduating from Oak Ridge High School, he attended The University of Tennessee Knoxville and then The University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis. Jon was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana. After moving back to Tennessee, he had a lengthy career as a Radiologist at St. Mary’s with Abercrombie Radiology. He was a member of Bearden United Methodist Church, where he also served as an usher. Jon was a man of diverse interests and passions. He loved watching The University of Tennessee football, and his love for the game was matched only by his enthusiasm for tennis and golf. He was also an avid music lover and dancer. In addition to his indoor pursuits, Jon had a green thumb and took great pleasure in landscaping, transforming his surroundings into beautiful spaces that brought joy to all who visited. Jon and Beverly loved to travel together and they spent many of their family vacations at Hilton Head and Disney. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Aylene Simons; parents-in-law, John and Jessie Brown; brother-in-law, Larry Alan Brown; and son-in-law, Gregory Harold Kill. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 64 years Beverly Simons; children, Kimberly Simons Adamson and her husband Brett, Gina Simons Brown and her husband Chuck and Karen Simons Kill; grandchildren, Tyler Brett Adamson and his wife Abby, Corey Jon Adamson and his wife Sara, Lindsay Adamson Williams and her husband Nic, Blake Alan Adamson and his wife Annaka, Rebecca Brown Benton and her husband Griffin, Daniel Charles Brown and his wife Kalie, Rachel Ann Brown, Anna Catherine Kill, Christina Grace Kill and Jon Gregory Kill; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Brown; nephews, David Brown and Kevin Brown; several extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 5th from 11:30am-1:00pm at Bearden United Methodist Church with a funeral service to follow. Family and friends will then gather at Oak Ridge Memorial Park at 3:00pm for interment.
