Ellen E. Gaylord

Ellen Elizabeth Gaylord, born March 15, 1932 in Martin, TN, passed peacefully on June 17, 2022. Ellen lived and worked most of her life in Memphis, TN, but resided the last 18 years in Knoxville at StoryPoint West Senior Living. Ellen considered all of her caregivers there part of her Knoxville family. In Memphis, she was an Executive Assistant at Holiday Inn and Greyhound Bus Lines. Ellen was a long-time member of Colonial Park United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed travel, reading, Bunco, and quality time with friends and family, most especially with her grand and great-grandchildren. Ellen was preceded in death by parents, Asa H. and Rosie Lee Tuck; husband, Dayne S. Gaylord; siblings and spouses, Earl Tuck (Ruth), Raymond Tuck (Nell), Alton Lee Tuck, Fara Mae Cowsert (Charlie), Wayne Tuck (Ruby); brother-in-law James Thompson; and nephew Gary Tuck. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Mark and Nan Gaylord; grandson, Dr. Curtis S. Gaylord (Lauren); granddaughter Leah Fitch (Austin); great-grandchildren Mac, Henry, and Miles Gaylord and Nora, Beckett and Eliza Fitch; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Barbara Gaylord; sisters-in-law Bonnie Thompson and Dorothy Tuck; and multiple nieces and nephews. The family gives special love to her niece, Carolyn Clarke, and life-long friends Sandra Sigman, Jenelle Kidd, and Cathy Richardson. The family also gives special thanks to StoryPoint West for the exemplary care over the past 18 years as well at UT Hospice for the excellent compassionate care given to Ellen and her family in her last days. Though Ellen was confined to a wheelchair these last 18 years, she now walks with the angels and we can hear her say, “Love you more!” The family will receive friends Friday, July 1st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Rose Funeral and Cremation – Mann at 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville.
