Rev. Jesse Philip Rouse

Rev. Jesse Philip Rouse, of Knoxville, Tennessee, stepped into the presence our Lord, on April 27, 2016. He followed his precious wife of 65 years, 13 days after her passing. He was 86 years young and a member of Christ the Rock Church of God. He is preceded in Death by parents Rev. L.G. Rouse and Martha Fincher Rouse, and his wife Barbara Ann Dyer Rouse; Brothers Amos, James, and Paul Rouse, and sisters Nicola Rouse, Unena Rouse Spence, Naomi Rouse Kelley, and Betty Rouse Spence. He is survived by his Daughters Trecia Rouse Bush Todd, Donna Rouse Mashburn Repper (John), and Beth Rouse Swany. In addition there are nine loving grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, along with brothers JD Rouse and Joseph Vincent Rouse. He was a dedicated, faithful, child of God. His life’s mission was to bring as many souls to God that he possibly could. He never met a stranger. He always listened to God and knew when someone around him was in need of prayer. From standing in line at Walmart to witnessing to someone on a park bench, he was always winning souls back to the lord. He found his calling in his early twenties and founded many churches in New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware before pastoring his last church, Eastmore Church of God, Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from Stair Technological High School in 1950; where he was the Captain and Quarterback of the Football team with an offer to play at Vanderbilt. That explains why he was UT Football’s #1 fan. He was a member of the IBEW local 760, and a past member of the Knoxville Optimist Club. He taught Industrial Electricity for many years. He was very proud of his teaching career at schools which included Fulton High School, Tennessee Technology Center, and the Alcoa Aluminum apprentice program. The family will receive friends, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday May 6th, 2016, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel (1421 N. Broadway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37917). The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Saturday May 7, 2016, at Central Church of God, (4721 Papermill Drive NW, Knoxville, TN 37909). A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 pm for Jesse and Barbara Rouse with Pastor Stephan Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Dyer Cemetery in Luttrell, TN.
