Linda Carol Sullivan Taylor

Taylor, Linda Carol Sullivan - age 69, of Knoxville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Linda was born August 19, 1943, in Memphis. Preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Wm. Royce Sullivan and Sarah Reid Sullivan; and her younger brother, Wm. R. (Bill) Sullivan II. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Dr. James Walter Taylor of Knoxville, son Bryan Reid Taylor and three grandchildren Sean, Brynn and Seth Taylor, of Sandersville, GA, two sisters, Nancy Sullivan Collins of Douglasville Georgia, and Martha "Molly" Sullivan of Memphis. Linda trusted Christ as her Savior at ten years of age. She grew up in Bells, TN where she was very active in church and school activities. She loved going to her Dad's farm as a teenager and riding her favorite horse, "Frosty." Linda graduated from Bells High School in 1961, and Union University in Jackson in 1965 with majors in Elementary Education and Art. She and Walter married in 1963 and began their journey together to serve the Lord in missions and ministry. Linda taught first grade for eleven years, serving in Jackson, TN, Lake Worth, TX, Trimble, TN, and Memphis. She also taught Jr. High at Frayser Baptist Schools in Memphis, art K-12 in Jackson City Schools, and at Old Hickory Academy in Jackson, and later finished her teaching career at East Elementary in Madison County teaching 6th grade. She worked at the Baptist Book Store in Knoxville as Coordinator of Children's Materials. She also served as a church secretary at Central Baptist Bearden and later as Director of Missions secretary for Knox County Association of Baptists. Linda loved children and enjoyed leading children's worker conferences across Tennessee in Sunday School, Discipleship and VBS for the Tennessee Baptist Convention. Linda also served alongside her husband in several mission experiences through the years in Tennessee, Michigan, Iowa, Chile and Trinidad. Funeral Service Saturday, September 8th, 2:00 pm at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Dr. Larry Fields and Dr. Wade Bibb officiating. A procession will then immediately follow the service and travel to Highland Memorial Cemetery for the interment.
