Marjorie Levonia Smith

Marjorie Levonia Bennett (Smitty) Smith, age 85, of Knoxville, Rocky Hill, and formerly of Petros TN, born in 1927, left this life to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, November 22, 2013 at her home. She was a charter member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church, and worked for 27 years at Rocky Hill market, where she became an icon; she knew no strangers and was known throughout West Knoxville; being very active in the Church, she was always a leader in making everyone welcome. Margaret was active in the Half-Century Club, Rose Circle, Special Interest Sunday School, the Family Community Education of Bearden, and was a volunteer of Fantasy of Trees and a Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army. She is preceded in death by her Mother and Father Edith and Richard Bennett; sister Glenna Mache; Infant sister Coleen Bennett; Brother Rudolph Bennett, and an Infant son. She is survived by her Husband, Charles W. Smith; Sons and Daughter’s-In-Law: Wayne and Kay Smith; Lynn and Cindy Smith; Keith and Natalie Smith; Mark and Michelle Smith; Grandchildren; Shawn and Mariah Smith; Bryan and Sarah Smith; Brittany Smith, Catlin Smith, Dawson Smith, Alyssa Smith, and step-grandson Josh Burchi; Great-grandchildren; Janie Smith and Hannah Smith; Brothers Grady Bennett and Dana Bennett as well as several nieces and nephews. For the loving care of our mother, special thanks is given to Judy and Janet Freeman, Amedisys Hospice-Ashley, Brenda, Melissa, Patty, Clay, and a very special thank you to Angie Jones. She leaves a legacy devotion to the Lord and love to everyone around her. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 25, 2013, 7:00 p.m., Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with the Rev. David Graybeal, officiating. Interment will take place Monday, December 2, 2013, 1:30 p.m., at the East Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery, Gov. John Sevier Highway. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, preceding the funeral service.
