Phyllis Wilkinson

Phyllis Lorene Wilkinson, 76, of Knoxville gained her angel wings on January 5, 2024. She is the youngest sister in a family of six girls and two boys. She is the daughter of the late William Wilkinson and Rose Wilkinson Whited. Her father died in an accident at Rohm and Haas on March 14, 1958, while working on an ammonia cooler, at the young age of 44. Her mother married the late Mel Whited on October 8, 1970. He was a beloved step-father to all the children. Phyllis will always be remembered as a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother. Her greatest role was mother to her beautiful daughter. Pam passed away suddenly in 2015 at the age of 48. Phyllis immediately turned her focus to raising the light of her life, her grandson Cory. She always wanted the best for Cory. Phyllis enjoyed listening to live music, creating beautiful flower gardens and snuggling with her sweet puppy, Libby. We will miss the photos of her thriving gardens this spring. She was always up for an adventure with her sisters. They were constantly taking fun trips. Phyllis enjoyed a long career at Tennessee Members First Credit Union. She was excited for her retirement so she could focus on spending time with family and friends. She was a wonderful loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her smile, warmth, heart-felt laughter and true southern charm will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved Phyllis. In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Pam Scarborough; brothers, Dewey and Bill Wilkinson; brothers-in-Law, Ed Butler and Bob Cox; and sister-in-Law, Betty Wilkinson. Phyllis is survived by her grandson, Cory Lewis of Bristol, TN; sisters, Charlotte Butler, Lou (Skip) Daily, Sue (Jack) McReynolds, Lynda (Doug) Stancell, Nancy Cox, sister-in-law, Sharon Wilkinson; and many other family and friends. Phyllis was interred privately at Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rose Funeral and Cremation –Mann, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN on Saturday, March 2nd from 11:00am-12:00pm. A Memorial Service will conclude the gathering beginning at 12:00pm, with Rev. Dr. Alan Smith officiating. Online condolences and memories may be shared at rosefuneraltn.com.
