Reba June Lindsay Jones

On December 31, 2025, our mom Reba June Lindsay Jones, age 98, went home to be with the Lord. We know she is happy again in Heaven with our dad Jim Jones, her soulmate and best friend of 72 years. Mom was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and most recently attended her old church West Lonsdale Baptist. Our mom was a hard worker all her life. She earned a nickel a week at her first job at 8 years of age. She was a member of the Knox City Crossing Guard for 27 years and retired from Knox County Schools Food Services as a cashier at 80 years of age. Along the way, mom helped so many children. Sometimes she was the only one to praise a good grade, a crayoned picture or an improved report card. Sweaters and sandals or shoes too tight on cold mornings were replaced with warm coats or new shoes in the afternoon. As a woman of the earth, mom always had a flourishing garden. She often said, "I wanted to help where I could." When needed or simply asked, she mowed someone's grass, painted or wallpapered a neighbor's room, made new curtains, fixed a meal, made a loan, or simply listened. Mom and Dad always looked forward to their weekly nursing home visits with the sick and the shut-ins, and especially with those no one came to see. June is survived by her children and spouses Tootie and John McCook and Jeff and Peggy Jones; grandchildren Nicholas (Jill) McCook, Lindsay (Michael) Mongeon, Hannah (Chris) Olson; great-grandchildren John and Luke McCook, Molly Mongeon, and Lincoln Olson. Her happiest times in her later years were all about her great-grandchildren! She treasured every visit, phone call, card, picture, hug, and "I love you, Nanny." Our mom had an unbelievably supportive group of friends, a "second family." Thank you to her very special longtime "sisters" Evelyn Lindsay (100) and Kathleen Hughes (99). Thank you to her very caring neighbors Annie Davis, Donna Hall, John Farmer, and Anthony Anastasio. Thank you, Linda and Roscoe England, Sharon and Les Quarles, Teresa O'Neil, Mike Malcolm, Barbara and Bill Fair, and so many others. Thank you to her special cousins Sherry (John) Fischer and Lisa (Mike) Conley Thank you, Kent Williams. You always knew when to visit. Reba June Lindsay Jones, born June 17,1927, lived everyday by Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." And she did. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 6th at Rose Funeral & Cremation – Mann 6200 Kingston Pike from 10:00am-11:00am with a funeral service to follow, Reverend Kent Williams officiating. Interment to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
