Regina Buck Edgman

Regina Buck Edgman, 89, died on January 16, 2016 at Prestonwood Nursing Home in Plano, TX. She was surrounded by her family at the time of death. She was born on June 24, 1926 in Rossville, Georgia, the daughter of Harold Buck and Nell Katherine Williams Buck. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1943 and attended Barry University in Miami, FL and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. She married Victor William Edgman on April 25, 1949. He died in 2001. Her survivors include her son, Thomas Edgman(Marianna), Dallas, TX; daughter Susan Edgman-Levitan(Richard), Chestnut Hill, MA, and three grandchildren, Nick Edgman, Dallas, TX, Carrie Edgman, Dallas TX, and Amelia Levitan, New York, NY. She also is survived by her brother David Buck(Nancy) of Annapolis MD, Herbert Buck(Betty), Atlanta, GA, Margaret Hicks(Tom) of Knoxville TN, and Marilyn Roberts, Evans, GA.and many beloved nieces and nephews. Affectionately known as “the Concrete Lady”, Mrs. Edgman was owner and president of Westport Trading Company for 30 years. She was a long standing member of Sacred Heart Cathedral. A loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, she cared deeply about education and literacy, establishing the first library at Sacred Heart School and serving on the board of the Knoxville Friends of Literacy. She held many local, regional and national positions in the Daughters of the American Revolution, including serving as regent of the Andrew Bogle DAR chapter, state regent of the Tennessee DAR, and she served on the board of the DAR Tamassee School in Tamassee, SC. She also organized the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer for several years and was recognized for her effort by Danny Thomas. The family will receive friends at 6:30pm on January 18, 2016 at Rose Mortuary, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN. A Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
