Sandol Battle Douglas Patteson

Patteson, Sandol Battle Douglas, age 80, died Friday morning, May 4, 2012. She was born January 6, 1932 in Arlington, TN to John Pitman Douglas and Bell Cunningham Douglas who both preceded her in death. She graduated from Nicholas Blackwell High School in Bartlett, TN where she was elected both the Band and Football Queens. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sigma Sorority and attended Southwestern College in Memphis and she received her teacher's certificate from the University of Memphis where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was also a member of Les Passee and the Girls Cotillion, serving as their Lady in Waiting in the Memphis Cotton Carnival Court. She was a flight attendant for Delta Airlines and a third grade math teacher at St. George's Day School, Germantown, TN. She was a member of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church and was a participant in several Bible Studies as well as Bible Study Fellowship. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a caring friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Sloane Patteson, III and four devoted children; daughter, Douglas Patteson Kirkpatrick of Nashville, TN; sons, John Strake Patteson and wife Maureen of Knoxville, William Bruce Patteson and wife Katherine of Memphis, TN and James Sloane Patteson, IV of Knoxville; brothers, John Pittman Douglass and wife Edna Earl and William Cunningham Douglas, Jr. and wife Peggy of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Allie Louise Kirkpatrick, Philip Mason Kirkpatrick, William Lucas Kirkpatrick, Nashville, TN, John Starke Patteson, Jr. and wife Sarah of Cookeville, TN, Brandon James Patteson of Knoxville, William Bruce Patteson, Jr. and Taylor Goodloe Patteson of Memphis, TN; great-granddaughter, Kinzlee Ann Patteson of Cookeville, TN; step-grandsons, Jackson Gregory Wilson and Andrew James Wilson of Knoxville as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins for whom she cared deeply. A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Monday at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Dr. L. Holton Seigling and The Reverend Dr. Michael V. Stanfield officiating. The family request that memorial contributions be made to Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church, 3700 Keowee Ave. Knoxville, TN 37919 or the charity of your choice.
